🚨 SEC MOVES TOWARD A NEW CRYPTO FRAMEWORK — BUT IT’S NOT FINAL YET
The SEC is working toward a tailored regulatory framework for crypto projects that raise capital through investment contracts.
This builds on its March 2026 interpretation, which clarified that most crypto assets are not themselves securities and that an investment contract involving a token can eventually come to an end.
The SEC had planned to consider new rules on August 14 that could create specialized registration exemptions and safe-harbor pathways for qualifying crypto projects — but that meeting was cancelled, so those rules have not officially been proposed yet.
Still, the direction is important:
Instead of trying to force every crypto project into traditional securities rules, the SEC is working toward rules specifically designed for digital assets.
🇺🇸 Regulatory clarity for crypto in America continues to move forward.
